File-sharing utopiaWith its much ballyhooed Neo Network, Morpheus continues to woo users in hopes of P2P domination. The Neo Network uses something called "distributed hash tables" to make searches, and ultimately downloads, more efficient and reliable.

However, Morpheus isn't ready to abandon the rest of the P2P world and still connects to the Gnutella, Fast Track (Kazaa), eDonkey, and BitTorrent networks. In our tests, searches were extremely fast, with plenty of results appearing almost immediately. The program interface looks slick but it is cluttered with advertising contents (the ad-supported version also generated several pop-up windows, promoting the client, in our tests). Multiple searches now spawn a drawer to the application's left that features a handy progress bar. We like the network status indicator, which shows which networks you're connected to and if you're firewalled.

Morpheus's familiar amenities, such as the built-in media player and the live chat component, haven't changed much. We highly recommend Morpheus to file-sharing aficionados.
