Publisher's description of Freelancer demo
At the start of the fourth millennium, the newly settled Sirius star system is controlled by the four major houses, which cooperate and compete based on their shifting political agendas. As freelancer Edison Trent, you can fight for law and order as a naval soldier, find your fortune trading commodities, steal and loot as a space pirate, or maybe even do a bit of all three.

Gameplay features 3D character interaction, an immersive storyline, and an intuitive mouse-look control system for extensive 3D space combat. Your reputation in the galaxy will change based on your actions, so beware: Today's friends may well wind up as tomorrow's enemies.

Editor's review of Freelancer demo
An amazing contrast of epic scope and simple control, Freelancer does an excellent job of mixing elements of simulation, role-playing, arcade action, and nonlinear cinema. Outstanding 3D graphics and a theatrical soundtrack are just the appetizers. Most innovative is the game's mouse-only controls for space flight, which are far easier to learn than those found in most simulators. The point-and-click story elements of the game can get a bit repetitive, but the action-packed battles definitely liven things up. An excellent interface and ample hand-holding make it easy to bounce among the wildly different modes of gameplay. Although the demo only delivers one complete mission, the replay value is high. If you've ever been scared off by the complexity of simulation or strategy games, definitely give this one a try.
